Word definitions

Isotonic- When the muscles change in length as they lift or lower something.

Isometric- When the muscles exert force but don't change in length that you can see.

Isokinetic- Exercise where you are moving consistently and you still have to put forth all your strength.

The overload principle- When you want your muscles to be stronger, you work them harder than they're used to.  Your muscles will slowly get used to the extra stress and they grow stronger.

The work/rest ratio- I couldn't find the definition in the glossary, so I looked it up, but I still couldn't find anything.

This helps me to know that it's going to take some effort.  Like in the overload principle where you have to work your muscles more to make them stronger.
